Here at Bannor Toys we truly believe in small businesses doing big things! Each Monday we will give you the chance to get to know one of our favorites. Today we would like to introduce you to Caylee of Taylin Threads. This mompreneur shares with you how starting over may not be that bad afterall! Her work ethic and tenacity are to be admired. Everyone please say hello to Caylee of Taylin Threads...
Name: Caylee Williams
Who's in your family: Mike (husband, dad), Taylor (daughter 3) Linden (son 1) ME
Favorite way to spend your free time: With my family- Trips to the farm, train rides, or family snuggles in bed in the morning
Age when you started your business: 26
Tell us about your business in 3 sentences: Taylin Threads is named after my daughter “Taylor” and son “Linden”. My children have inspired me to create unique hip clothing for children to wear. Taylin Threads has allowed me to stay at home with my kids, and enjoy my passion of sewing.
What made you start your business, what did you leave behind: I started my business so I could make an income from home and stay with my children. I always dreamed of being a stay at home mom. I left behind my job as a teacher.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers/expanding your audience: Marketing is key- Marketing to the right audience, through Facebook, Instagram, and word of mouth. I have also taken part in local merchant events to market and sell my products.
Single most important decision you've made for your business: To invest in employees to help with the work load.
Something about you not many people know, business or personal: I delivered both my babies 100% natural with no use of drugs or interventions. I enjoy the birthing process and crave the feeling of delivery. I am one of “those” moms who find birth and delivery astonishing and beautiful.
If you could go back to the day your business started (whether it was intentional or by accident), and have 15min with your former self to communicate any lessons you've acquired with the intention of saving yourself mistakes and heart ache, what would you tell yourself? Start the business on my own. Starting a business with a partner from the ground up was extremely difficult- I had to give that business away and restart my new company on my own. Best decision
How did you distinguish yourself from your competitors? Trying to be unique with my patterns, try to use different materials other competitors don’t use- Offer one of a kind details
Best piece of advice you've gotten that you still follow: Stay true to your brand- Know what your brand represents and follow your dream.
My favorite quotes is... Live each day like its your last!
The biggest lesson I have ever learned is… Be true to yourself. Don’t let others judge you- Love your self first
My favorite business tool or resource is… Media Marketing
If I could go back in time 10 years ago I would tell myself… You can achieve anything you put your mind to
