Name: Jennifer Durham
Who's in your family: Family of 5 with my husband Rob, and three kids: Kenny (16), Connor (9), and Calista (3).
Favorite way to spend your free time: Free time? Never heard of it. Totally kidding (kind of) but when I have free time, I like to spend my time with the family, doing just about anything. The kids are growing up way too fast so I take in as much time as I can with them!
Age when you started your business: Started my business in 2013
Tell us about your business in 1 sentence: Little Faces Apparel is a handcrafted children’s clothing brand located in Virginia.
What made you start your business, what did you leave behind: The business was started because I was tired of having my kids wear the same thing every other kid was wearing.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers/expanding your audience: Cross promotion with other small brands!
Single most important decision you've made for your business: Don’t always worry or compare LFA to what other business are doing!
Something about you not many people know, business or personal: I started this business making tutu costumes in 2012.
If you could go back to the day your business started (whether it was intentional or by accident), and have 15min with your former self to communicate any lessons you've acquired with the intention of saving yourself mistakes and heart ache, what would you tell yourself? Do your research! Don’t rush into things too fast! And remember that you will be your biggest fan. While you can pay people to help market your brand, YOU know your product the best!
How did you distinguish yourself from your competitors? While trying to make sure every piece that leaves out the door is of the highest quality, we also take pride in providing outstanding customer service.
Best piece of advice you've gotten that you still follow? Be nice. Be unique. Continue following your passion.
My favorite quotes is... “My ultimate goal is to leave this world a better person, and for me not to be the only one who knows it.” – Gavin DeGraw
The biggest lesson I have ever learned is… you have to spend money to make money but make sure you’re spending it in the right place.
My favorite business tool or resource is… other small shop owners.
If I could go back in time 10 years ago I would tell myself… get started on your business now, don’t wait!
