Trick or Treat!

Is your family gearing up for Trick or Treat? Or do you call it Beggar's Night in your neck of the woods? No matter what you call it, it is coming soon and it is always a ton of fun! Here are some tricks (jokes) and some treats!

In Iowa, when you trick or treat, many houses will ask if you have a joke or a trick. (Is this popular in your area?) Here are some that you can teach your kids to get them prepared!

🍬 What do witches get in hotels? Broom Service

🍬 What do birds say on Halloweeen? Twick or Tweet

🍬 What does a hungry ghost want? Ice Scream

🍬 How do ghosts wash their hair? With Sham-boo

🍬 What fruit do scarecrows love the most? Straw-berries

🍬 Where do baby ghosts go during the day? Day-scare centers

🍬 Why was the broom late? Because it over-swept

🍬 What type of coffee does a vampire drink? De-coffin-ated!

🍬 Why do ghosts hate rain? It dampens their spirits.

🍬 What did the wizard say to the twin witches? Which witch is which?

🍬 What bear goes around scaring other animals? Winnie the Boo!

🍬 Why are ghosts so bad at lying? Because you can see right through them!

🍬 What plants like Halloween the most? Bam-BOO!

🍬 Why did the policeman ticket the ghost on Halloween? It didn’t have a haunting license.

🍬 What are a ghost’s favorite rides at the fair? The scary-go-round and roller-ghoster!

Now that the jokes are taken care of, let's move on to some treats that you can make leading up to trick or treat or after all the fun is done and you need to find a use for all. that. candy!

Here is another easy treat that is sure to please!

Ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups rice kripsies
  • Orange Food Coloring
  • 12 miniature Reese's cups
  • 24-36 miniature green M&Ms

Steps:

  • In a large pot, add the butter and place over medium heat. Melt, stirring occasionally. As soon as the butter is melted, add 8 cups of the miniature marshmallows. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are JUST melted. Add the food coloring and stir.
  • Add rice krispies
  • Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated and then lightly spritz your hands with cooking spray. Grab a handful of the krispies mixture and gently form into a ball. Avoid compressing the treat too much as you don't want a hard/dense treat.
  • Press a miniature reese's cup into the top of the pumpkin and re-shape as necessary to form the ball and get the reese's cup to hold in place.
  • Press in 1-3 miniature M&Ms to make it look like small leaves.
