When I was contacted by Gibbs Smith Publishing and asked to tell my story in a book with other women entrepreneurs I was hesitant to say yes as first. See, I've never thought of myself or my journey as a mom and business owner as extraordinary; it is simply what I love to do. I wake up in the morning anxious to get out to the shop after the kids are off to school and Jesse and I are always talking about ways to grow Bannor Toys and the directions we should take.
Movers, Shakers, Mommies & Makers is a collection of stories from myself and ten fellow women entrepreneurs. It tells our tales of late nights and early mornings, of juggling kids and wholesale orders, of loving our families and finding our place in the world. I hope that you'll get this book, not only because the proceeds will be donated to Girls Inc. to help inspire other girls to follow their dreams, but because I hope it inspires you to know that if you want something bad enough it doesn't matter how far away or tough it seems to get there; with hard work anything is attainable. The glass is not half empty or half full, it is just always fill-able and I hope our stories inspire you to believe that too.
Success Stories from Mompreneurs
Eleven moms share their stories behind innovative businesses that have grown from side projects in craft rooms and garages to nationally recognized brands. The furniture, clothing, toys, carrying wraps, diaper bags, and other products these women create can now be found in stores nationwide, including retailers such as Nordstrom and Walmart. Being a mom is a full-time job, and starting a business is no easy feat, but these moms are here to inspire how both can be achieved.
