I get asked some version of this question a lot.... usually by a grandma standing at our booth, turning a rattle over in her hands. "So what makes yours different?"
It's a fair question! There are a LOT of wooden toys out there. So here's my honest answer, the one Jesse and I have been working out since we started this thing in a home workshop back in 2011.
1. Every toy is made to order, in small batches
When you order from us, your toy isn't pulled off a shelf in a warehouse somewhere. It's made for you. Most of our toys are made right in our own workshop, and I'm the one sanding, finishing and packing them. Small batch, real people, and honestly.... a whole lot of sawdust in my hair.
2. Simple materials I feel good about
Our toys are made from natural, unstained hardwood with an organic beeswax + flaxseed finish. Most pieces are rock hard maple, a dense, non-splintering wood that holds up to years of chewing, dropping and stacking. No mystery coatings, no plastic parts pretending to be wood.
3. Safety you can actually check
Our toys are CPSC Compliant. They've been third-party lab tested, and we inspect them in our workshop too, because I want to know every single toy that leaves here is right. If you ever have a question about how something is made or tested, just ask me. I mean that!
4. Toys that leave room for imagination
No batteries, no flashing lights, no songs on repeat (you're welcome 😉). A block can be a phone, a car or a birthday cake. When the toy does less, your kiddo gets to do MORE.
5. They're made to be handed down
This is the big one for me. Add a name or birth stats, and a toy turns into a keepsake that gets tucked away in a memory box and pulled back out for the next generation. That's what "heirloom" means around here.
6. A real small business on the other end
Bannor Toys is a women-owned American small business. When you email us, a real person answers. When you order, there's a good chance your package has a handwritten note in it. And when something isn't right, we make it right.
So that's my answer, grandma at the booth. 😊 We've always had confidence in YOU, and we're so grateful you keep trusting us with your little ones' playtime.
